Nice remote location for a getaway. Navigating the driveway could be a huge challenge in bad weather. Not a lot of lighting if you come in at night. We had to shovel an icy snow bank left by plowers to be able to navigate the driveway. In the living room, we were not able to get the main fireplace to work and the furniture in there needs upgrades. Both side chairs are not very comfortable at all so if you are having 6 people stay there wouldn’t be a lot of places to sit because the couch was not that big. The beds were also uncomfortable. King in basement was super squeaky, couldn’t even sit on it. The queen on the main was very stiff. The house itself is nice with new flooring, updated bathrooms and the kitchen/dining space were lovely. Overall very clean and had a wonderful cabin feel that you are looking for when coming to DCL. Windows and views were great, woke up to deer outside of the kitchen while drinking some coffee. Close to a nice brewery (great pizza!) for dinner. Just a few small recommended improvements would make this place a 5.

Ginseng Getaway is a beautiful 3-bedroom house. Each of the 3 bedrooms is on a different level, each with private bath. The baths on the lower and middle levels also have doors to the living areas of those 2 levels. The house was spotless, and I was impressed by both that and the included amenities. In addition to the usual, there is a foosball table, a horseshoe pit, an outdoor fire pit, and a large chest full of board games for the kids. The wraparound porch has a couple of tables and chairs, and there is also a patio off the lower level with seating. Doors open front and back, allowing you to drive around the driveway that circles the house to unload cars without going up or down steps on both the middle and lower levels. There are gas fireplaces on both the lower and middle level. The kitchen is large and very well organized, with plenty of glassware (and large plastic cups for the kids), flatware, and cooking utensils. The house is located away from the road, but is well-marked, making it easy to find in the dark. The location makes for a very quiet setting, yet it is only 5 minutes away from gas and grocery stores. This was my second visit to this lovely house, and I'll happily return to Ginseng Getaway in the future.

Ginsing Getaway was a very comfortable and well maintained home. Lots of new updates and very clean. We really enjoyed a chance to spend time with old college roommates and spouses. Nice large table for meals and games. The sauna and fire pit were a huge hit too. It would be important for people to know this house sits at the top of a long, narrow, steep driveway which wraps all the way around the house. That could be a problem for some when the winter weather arrives.

Perfect getaway in the mountains!

Really enjoyed our stay at Ginseng Getaway. The location was great - close to the northern end of the lake but far enough away to be peaceful. The home was very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed having multiple levels as we were staying with multiple generations. One thing to be aware the propriety does not have central air conditioning but there were two window units installed during our stay home in early August. It was never too hot for us inside. During the winter, the property is primarily heated using gas fireplaces which may make some people nervous. Make sure you are ok with this before booking because Railey is NOT accommodating with changes to reservations. All said, the property is wonderful and I would love to stay there anytime!

Perfect cozy cabin for a winter getaway!

This cozy cabin had a perfect mix of woodsy charm and modern style. The two fireplaces kept us warm even in 6 degree weather and we appreciated the easy access to Wisp. The driveway makes a pretty awesome sled hill too!
